MISSION STATEMENT

Quality teaching + learning = success for all students.

VISION

Our vision for Starks High School is to exceed all national, state, and local requirements.  We want our students to perform on or above grade level in reading, writing, and mathematics.  We further envision students who think critically and are problem solvers who apply learning to real world experiences.  Our vision for our students is that they will be equipped for any future vocational or academic pursuits.  We want to provide a caring and challenging setting where students can work to acquire the knowledge, skills, and values that will help them become life-long learners and productive citizens.

BELIEFS

In order for students to acquire the knowledge, skills and values that will help them become lifelong learners and productive citizens, we believe in:

  • Setting high expectations and encouraging students to meet them.
  • Providing access to challenging vocational studies.
  • Providing challenging academic studies with real-world application.
  • Creating a collaborative working climate that enables teachers to plan and deliver effective and challenging instruction.
  • Actively engaging every student in rigorous and challenging content.
  • Using assessment and program evaluation data to improve all aspects of the learning environment.
  • The interdependence of school, family, and community.

We also believe that students should:

  • Be able to express thoughts orally and in writing.
  • Know the principles of our government and the responsibilities of a citizen.
  • Be problem-solvers.
  • Know how to work collaboratively.
  • Be proficient in the use of technology.
  • Be aware of a core set of universally accepted values.
